Project SmartBox focuses on four main areas:
Education
We provide school supplies to support learning success.
Creativity
We include creative tools to inspire imagination and growth.

We pack hygiene items to promote health and dignity.

We share Bible studies to build faith and purpose in Jesus.
Education.
When children lack basic school supplies, they often fall behind, feel ashamed, or drop out entirely. Without the tools to participate fully in class—like notebooks, pencils, and backpacks—their learning suffers. Providing educational materials gives them a fair start, boosts confidence, and supports long-term opportunities that can lift families out of poverty.
Creativity.
In hardship, creativity can be a lifeline—but without access to creative tools, children lose valuable outlets for expression and healing. This can lead to emotional shutdown, frustration, or lack of identity development. Encouraging creativity helps children process emotions, discover their strengths, and imagine a future beyond their current circumstances.
Hygiene.
Poor hygiene due to lack of basic items like soap, toothpaste, or feminine products can lead to illness, absenteeism, and shame—especially in school settings. Girls, in particular, may miss school during their periods. Providing hygiene items protects health, boosts self-esteem, and allows children to show up confidently and consistently.
The Gospel.
Without spiritual guidance, children and teens facing economic stress may grow up believing their value is tied to their circumstances. They may lose hope or fall into destructive paths. Bible study materials introduce them to God’s love, truth, and purpose—helping them find identity, peace, and direction in a broken world.
The SmartBox story.
The turning point in my life did not begin with the Gospel, although the Gospel made all the difference. It happened in junior high, when an unfamiliar substitute teacher, who I had only seen twice.
